He went to a Christian university — he even used to attend chapel ... But his take-away was: do good and help people. That was the extent of Greg’s spirituality.

Through a keen interest in the outdoors, he connected with Doug — a Christian who was bringing a group of men to RECLAIM’s Wilderness Lodge. Greg decided to come, too.

In this rugged, mountain setting, for the first time, Greg was confronted with crucial questions about his life and relationship with God ...

He was shocked when one leader told him, “I believe you’re here because the Spirit has been trying to get through to you. I would challenge you to make this weekend a ‘stake in the ground’ moment where you once and for all decide to give your life to Jesus.”

That very night, Greg dedicated his life to Christ. In the wee hours of the morning, bursting with joy over his new commitment, he got up, left the lodge, and climbed a nearby mountain —

As the sun rose over the mountain, Greg approached the summit. He began talking with the Lord about his decision to follow Him — he told God that this morning was his “stake in the ground.” And God responded to Greg in an incredible way...

Walking along, Greg considered the wonder of all that had happened in the last 24 hours — he was overwhelmed with joy and thankfulness. Suddenly his foot brushed against something that made a clinking sound —

Greg looked down ... there on the rocky ground, in the middle of the wilderness, was an old iron stake.

What an amazing confirmation the Father gave Greg!

As an expression of his new life in Christ, Greg picked up the stake and a rock, climbed to the peak of the mountain, and drove the stake into the summit — where it remains to this very day! Greg’s life — forever changed!

In the wilderness, where distractions are removed ... in fellowship with men who love Jesus ... a man’s heart can commune with creation and the God who made it — and experience life transformation!
